ART Off The Canvas at Aloft Miami Brickell
Tuesday, November 24, 7pm-midnight – Aloft Miami Brickell Hotel, 1001 SW 2 Ave, Miami Brickell
Aloft Miami Brickell presented Wynwood’s world-renowned wall artists Nicole Salgar, KAZILLA, and Juan Travieso, who painted the walls at Aloft Miami Brickell Hotel’s lobby. Guests and friends enjoyed lite bites and drinks, and live entertainment by DJ Glukman. The event was held in the support of CentreFuge Public Art, an organization that strives to bring together communities that are broken apart by congestion and blocked road-ways, with a dose of color and expression. CentreFuge Public Art is an organization of street artists founded and headquartered in NYC, with presence in Miami. The organization seeks to unify communities through art. Nicole Salgar spearheads CentreFuge Public Art’s Miami Chapter.
Nicole Salgar was born in Miami and has been a street artist for more than 15 years, of which 13 were spent in New York City where she became part of CentreFuge Art Project. After noticing the growth of Miami’s prolific street art movement, she decided to move back to her hometown as a representative of the organization for local artists.
Kazilla is originally from New Mexico, and today she travels around the world for her commissioned work, paintings, and exhibits. Her latest tour was in Dubai in 2014.
Cuban-born Juan Travieso studied art, illustration and painting. He has made exhibitions in various galleries and museums worldwide including a launch for a magazine in Melbourne, Australia. Today, he is an Art Professor at the New World School of Arts in Downtown Miami. #ARTOffTheCanvas @AloftBrickell
